Renewing Education

Our education system is based on functional and knowledge learning. Plans, instructions, school-clock, time and performance are key. Personal development and natural growth is undervalued in the school and in the company environment. Many sectors of economy are in a huge transformation process and industries are more and more fully automatized. How to change this system to focus on future skills and individualized support? A new culture of self-organized learning is needed to empower the next and current generation for solving ecological, economic and social issues.

Our prototype: Schulwandel.ch - cristalizing change and becoming an incubator for education

With our first prototype, the Schulwandel.Tour we were able to attract 53 participants who joined our tour either in Glarus, Zofingen, Luzern, Bern or Zurich. This was one of the results from our Nova Helvetia journey. During the tour, our project crystallized even more and a new format emerged, the Schulwandel.Barcamp

We will organize a nationwide “Schulwandel.Barcamp“ in 2021. Inviting all initiative people to crystallize activities and accelerate change in public schools. We will invite children and also an architect to build up the school environment of the Future. For preparation, we are evaluating the results of our journey “Schulwandel on tour“. We will involve organisations as “Intrinsic campus“ or “Kosmos.schule“ and other initiatives in the field. 

After our Barcamp, people will launch initiatives and projects for sustainable change in public schools in their near area. We will support them with our network and experience. We also want to institutionalize “Schulwandel.ch“ as an incubator for systemic change in education. Therefore we are closely collaborating with www.bildungsforum-schweiz.ch as a web-plattform connecting all sectors of education.

Outputs

• Implementation of the the Schulwandel.Tour, which attracted 53 participants who joined our tour either in Glarus, Zofingen, Luzern, Bern or Zurich

• Under the title "Shaping the future of education", the barcamp took place as part of the 2021 Swiss Digital Day, which brought pioneers of the Swiss education landscape together for an open exchange. Find out more about the barcamp in our blogpost!
